Father's Day Gift Guide

The Secure Dad Father's Day Gift Guide | Secure Dad

Father’s Day is coming! I’ve read a lot of the 2017 Father’s Day Gift articles and they are terrible. Like really. Not to worry, The Secure Dad has 10 real things that dads will love to get this July 18th. I’ve derived this list from stuff I see dads using and talking about every day. This post contains affiliate links but that just makes it easier to order, right?

Books from Audible.com

Books from Audible are really popular now. I see a lot of dads posting screen caps of the book they are listening too. Audible books are a great way to pass the time of the morning commute, working out or listing at their desks. Pick a book that the dad in your life will enjoy or give a gift card.

Improve His EDC

What does EDC stand for? Everyday Carry. EDC is all the good dad stuff he carries in his pockets, like a pen or pocket knife. A great way to brighten his father’s day is with a new Streamlight Stylus Pro LED Pen Light. Pen lights are useful for the car, the office and finding lost crayons under the table at a restaurant. It’s bright enough to use everywhere and small enough to carry every day.

High Speed Daddy Tactical Diaper Bag

By now you know how I feel about the HSD Tactical Diaper Bag. I used it for 33 miles at Disney this spring and it was a pleasure to carry. Tons of places to put stuff and very easy to access while moving. Any new dad will love this bag! Even if your children are out of diapers, this is a great everyday carry bag - that’s how I use it.

A New Watch

Men don’t have a lot of accessories. We have wedding band and watches. That’s pretty much it. But we do enjoy having a selection of watches to choose from. For running, a digital watch with a heart rate monitor is great and for an important meeting, a classic face is always appreciated. A watch can say a lot about a man, find one that speaks for him.

Tabletop Foosball

This one comes right from my own experience. All dads like foosball. We played it in college, we were good at it and now it’s time to pass this skill onto a younger generation. Your house may not have room for a full size regulation table, so a tabletop version might be just what you need.

If you have room, then there is more fun with a larger sized table. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with the gift of foosball - it’s fun for the whole family.

Amazon Echo Dot

The Amazon Echo Dot is a great addition to any home. We have an Echo and Dot. They are great for news, weather and the odd ball question your preschooler asks. Alexa, the voice of the Echo, doesn't always know the answer, but sometimes that leads to a hilarious story. As long as you have $50 and wi-fi you can’t go wrong with this for Father’s Day.

Snacks!

Snack time isn’t just for kindergarteners, it’s for dads too! That also goes for naps as well. But a variety of snacks for the desk at the office is a great idea. You can go for MoonPies and M&Ms or go all out and find something really unique. If the dad in your life likes spicy foods, I recommend Hot and Spicy Virginia Peanuts. Does he enjoy dark chocolate? Then go for a tub of dark chocolate pretzels. You can never go wrong with dark chocolate pretzels. The gift of snacking is the gift that keeps on munchign.

Star Wars

No 2017 Father’s Day Gift Guide would be complete without something from a galaxy far, far away. This year get the dad in your life a Millennium Falcon Bottle Opener. This small ship can be carried anywhere in the galaxy where there is a cookout. Please note that the hyperdrive on this model is iffy at best.

Matching Gamer Shirts

I’ve seen posts with dads showing off their gaming skills with their kids. Shirts with Player 1 and Player 2 matching controllers will be great for the dad gamer in your home. The Player 1 shirt is an adult size while the Player 2 shirt is a onesie or small kids size. As a dad, I don’t mind wearing a matching shirt with my kid every now and then. A quick Google search will bring up a variety of vendors to get just what you are looking for.

Tools of the Trade

When you buy grilling tools for dad, it’s really a gift for everyone. Bring up his grilling game with an awesome set of tools! You can choose NFL teams, a basic kit, or a high end set. You can’t really go wrong... unless you pick the Dallas set and your dad’s a Washington fan. So double check where his allegiance lies.
