I’ve destroyed a lunch bag or two in my time. Just as an adult, let alone as a kid. A few weeks ago I thought I hit the jackpot when I found an old, non-obliterated lunch bag in our pantry. I thought, “Great, I’ll use this one again until I ruin it.” Chances are you’re like me and you don’t have a lunch bag you can really count on.

The Tactical Lunch Bag is the second product from the High Speed Daddy. You may be familiar with his Tactical Diaper Bag. Earlier this year I carried one more than 33 miles through Disney and loved it. Does that mean I have to go back to Disney to try out the Lunch Bag? I wish.

First Impressions

I was excited when HSD revealed the next bag in his product line, not just because it was a new item, but because he didn’t stray from what worked with the HSD Tactical Diaper Bag. Reading the description online told me that HSD carried over all the good stuff from their Diaper Bag and used it to create a useful, durable lunch bag. He didn’t make a cheap bag and slap his logo on it. This is its own beast.

Watch the video below for more of my first impressions.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video was more about the lining inside the bag. The description says it’s “Durable aluminum foil lining with 8mm PE foam lining.” What I didn’t explain is that this lining is not flimsy at all. It’s a tough, durable lining that I’m convinced works better than what I’ve had in the past. HSD uses a similar lining in the pockets of the Tactical Diaper Bag.

First Time Out

I’ve been a sports videographer for many years. It’s not uncommon to find myself on a lift with a camera getting an overhead view of a field. This is the same motorized lift you’ll see on constructions sites.

A lift is like an island. You have to take everything with you that you might need during a 3 to 4 hour game. I packed a lot of drinks, a freezer pack and some energy bars in the Tactical Lunch Bag. Okay fine, they were Pop-Tarts, not energy bars.

On this night it rained during the NCAA soccer game I was shooting. It started when we went on air and continued through two overtime periods! I was a little concerned that the lunch bag might get water-logged and not perform. But it did.

All during the game I grabbed cold Gatorade after cold Gatorade out of that lunch bag. After all the rain, I was concerned that it might look rough or smell funny. That wasn’t the case. It still looks as good as it did when I pulled it out of the box. That’s the value of 600D waterproof polyester.

Pros

- Kept all the great design features of the HSD Tactical Diaper Bag

- 600D Waterproof Polyester

- Quality construction

- High quality, easy to use zippers (You don’t realize how important that is until you have a bad zipper)

- MOLLE webbing for accessories/storage

- Velcro strip for patches (You gotta have those.)

- Multiple compartments

- 10% of proceeds go to veterans in need

Cons

- Mesh pockets on the side seem short. (Fine for cans, but may need to attach tall plastic water bottles to MOLLE)

- This product will sell out quickly

Final Thoughts

Don’t hesitate add the HSD Tactical Lunch Bag to your EDC. It’s worth every penny. My Tactical Diaper Bag still looks brand new and I’ve used it almost every day for several months. I expect the same from the HSD Lunch Bag.
