Gifts for a Secure Dad

Santa | The Secure Dad | Dad Blog | Gifts for a Secure Dad

My wife and I were doing some Christmas shopping recently when she handed me a book with a smirk on her face. (I’m sure your wife has one too.) The book was entitled something like “3,000 Tips for The End of the World: A Guide to Life after SHTF.” Now some people may like this type of book because you believe an event like this will happen in your lifetime. Others may like it because it has some useful tips. However, I am not a “prepper.” My wife just likes to poke fun at me sometimes.

People that are security minded are folks who want to be prepared for what to do when you walk out into a parking lot or witness a car accident. We are not hoarding 100 pounds of MoonPies because they are the most delicious shelf staple that will last 10 years. So with that in mind, here are a few Christmas gift ideas for the Secure Dad in your life.

Gavin de Becker’s, The Gift of Fear - I’ve written a lot Mr. DeBecker’s best seller and for good reason. This empowering book will help you see the signs of violence in your life by harnessing the wisdom of your brain’s intuition. Order now.

A Swiss Army Knife - These multitool knives are great for just about any situation. Whether you need to cut a tag off of a shirt or tighten screw - a Swiss Army Knife will never let you down. If you want to know more about how to find the knife best knife, see my article about how every dad should have a knife. Order Now.

LED Pen Light - Remember the saying, “You can’t have too many flashlights”? Well if you don’t know that one, then you haven’t met me. Anyway, a small LED pen light is a great gift of the Secure Dad in your life as they can go anywhere and are useful in hundreds of applications. Find one today.

Walkie Talkies - They don’t really call them that anymore, so you’ll want to search for “two-way radios”. These are fun for dads and kids. I also recommend using them when traveling in a caravan. Don’t buy the cheap ones. I’ve been using the same set for more than 10 years now, so pay a little extra for the quality. Order now.

Portable Intruder Alarm - If your Secure Dad is often traveling, then a portable intruder alarm for the hotel is a great gift. This small, battery powered devices triggers a 100 DB alarm when tripped. More Information.

MoonPie - Okay, okay I mentioned them in jest and I feel I must add this one to the list. Not because MoonPie's will survive the apocalypse, but because they taste so good! Order a Big Ole Box.

Good luck shopping this holiday season. Remember that when you go shopping, do your best to hide your items in your car in the trunk or cargo area to avoid a potential break in. I’ll have more holiday security tips in the coming weeks.
